Recipe: Vietnamese Iced Coffee (Cà Phê Sữa Đá)

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp dark roast ground coffee (traditionally robusta)

  • 2–3 tbsp sweetened condensed milk

  • 1 cup hot water

  • Ice

  • Optional: Vietnamese phin filter (can also use French press or pour-over)

Instructions:

  1. Add sweetened condensed milk to a glass (adjust to taste).

  2. Place your phin filter over the glass. Add coffee grounds inside, tamp lightly.

  3. Pour a splash of hot water to let the grounds bloom (wait 30 seconds).

  4. Fill the filter with the rest of the water and let it drip slowly (takes ~4–5 minutes).

  5. Once brewed, stir to combine, then pour over a tall glass of ice.
